Can I Upgrade My TV To 3D
By Best HDTV
All HDTVs purchased prior 2010 are either regular HDTVs or 3D ready.
If you have bought one, you might want to check your TV manual now.
If your television is capable to run 3D - it is 3D ready, then just upgrade your TV to 3D. To do that you'll need a special 3D signal adapter to play real 3D.
This 3-DA1 3D adapter (1st. pic. below) is for Mitsubishi 3D ready TV, and there should be more in the market for other brands too. May be it's too early now and should wait a little while they are all to be released.
Unfortunately you'll have to wait cause also this Mits item has not yet been released. But you may pre-order it now and it will be delivered to you when it arrives. More about the Mitsubishi release date read here...

How To Watch 3D On A Regular Plasma Or LCD TV
Fortunately there are also other solutions available to upgrade your existing TV model or PC to watch 2D movies and play 2D games in 3D. You just need to know what stuff you need for that!
First of all you need 120 Hz 3D ready flat screen, computer, 3D Kit with 3D glasses (nVidia, see below), special converter software, graphics processing unit, Blu-Ray 2x speed drive, etc. Quite a lot of stuff actually, but it's worth it if you don't want to spend on a new 3D TV.

Play 3D On Normal HDTV
If your TV isn't 3D ready but have just normal HDTV .....Bought 3-d glasses,....and now wondering if you could play your TV to experience the 3D effect... then know that old red lens/blue lens or red/green lens 3D glasses can be used on any home TV set, though the results are far from great.
With your normal TV it's the movie that is different that makes it 3D, with the special 3D TV (or 3D ready TV + 3D adapter) it's the technology in the TV, which makes it possible to render much better - real 3D output and making it possible to play video games in 3D or watch 3D movies.
A couple of companies like Samsung and Panasonic has a technology that uses special 3D glasses connected to a 3D TV and compatible 3D Blu-ray player.
There are more coming lately - Mitsubishi, Sony, LG, Philips...

What Technology Makes A TV Be 3D Ready/ Full 3D TV
Basically, the DLP 3D ready TV has to be capable of scanning at 120 frames per second - double that for HD. With DLP (digital light processing) images for left and right eyes are interleaved and the viewing glasses switch on and off 60 times a second so each eye only sees it's own picture.
The 2-different color scheme applies to older cinema movies. The new HDTV active-shutter technology basically works by a dual lens camera capturing two images, one of which ultimately goes to each eye to give an artificial sensation of depth.
The TV set rapidly switches back and forth between the left and right images, and electronic glasses alternately cut off the left and right lens in synch with the switching in the TV. The switching is so fast that you can't see it, resulting in separate images for each eye.
It's a great way to make last year's TV obsolete so you have to keep buying new ones. But the equipment isn't cheap.
